Malcolm Holcombe - Charles Inn, Bangor, Maine October 30th, 2011

Malcolm Holcombe played in Bangor, Maine!

I saw Malcolm in 1999 in a small club in New York.  His set at the old Living Room was a riveting highlight of a CMJ week where I saw many excellent bands (and also got drenched by hurricane Floyd) including Tricky, Elliott Sharp, The Pernice Brothers, Bettie Serveert, Sally Timms and the Waco Brothers, among others.

Since that time he's put out five albums with many more great songs.  Getting to see him perform his mix of country, blues and folk music in such an intimate space as the Charles Inn is very much what it might be like if he were playing on his porch back home in the western North Carolina hills.  It's wonderful to see the Bangor Waterfront coming to life musically, but there hasn't been a show yet that can beat being able to sit a few feet away while watching and listening to Malcolm Holcombe perform.

So, Malcolm Holcombe played in Bangor, Maine.
I was there.
I wish you were, too.
