John Primer - Time Out Pub, Rockland, Maine October 4th, 2010

It's seems as if I'm in constant catch-up mode these days. Between a couple of different odysseys (one fun - the other not so much...) my time has gotten chewed up recently.

John Primer came to Rockland, Maine earlier this month. It was my first opportunity to see him in a club (he was at the North Atlantic Blues Festival in 2002). You can read plenty about Primer on the web, so I'll just give you a brief synopsis of folks he's played with, in addition to fronting his own band, that have earned him the right to be described as The Real Deal. Since arriving in Chicago in 1963 he's played with Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters and Magic Slim - just the tip of the blues iceberg when it comes to John Primer.

I had a blast photographing and listening to John and the Real Deal Blues Band (Michael Morrison - bass, Vernon Rodgers - drums, Geneva Red - harmonica)!
(Unfortunately, Jennifer was not feeling well that day, so all photos are by Michael A. Murphy)
