Macro Day challenge for Rings

A friend gave me this Olympic Commemorative jar of M&Ms way back when. It's had M&Ms in it, most of the time, since then.

Submitted to Macro Day's challenge for Rings. If I'd thought of taking this photo in time, I'd have used it for the Circles challenge a few weeks ago.

It was a good week for the Blues in Maine!

We managed to catch Studebaker John and the Hawks at the Time Out Pub in Rockland on Monday.

Guest photographer Jenny Why_Me contributed the Studebaker John photos.

We also managed to catch Guy Davis at the Unity Centre for the Performing Arts on Wednesday.

I knew I'd find a reason to post this photo eventually

I drove by here several nights last spring when construction work was being done on I-95. Portions of the highway were closed, so I usually drove over to Howard Street (before they took down the barrels blocking access) and then through downtown Bangor to get home. After thinking about shooting this storefront for several nights, I finally stopped and took a few shots.

More Cold And A Little Mist...

...from this morning's drive to work.

It was around zero when these shots were taken. Fortunately, it's finally warmed up and was a balmy 32 degrees at noontime today.

Bangor - In Vintage Postcards

I received this book (by Richard R. Shaw) as a Christmas gift after learning of it when trying to find some info about a

postcard I saw in Bucksport.

I've only glanced at a few images in this book so far. I look forward to spending some time with it soon. Since Bangor's 175th Anniversary of becoming a city is next week (Feb. 12th), it might be a good thing to do before then!

Cold Mist

It was 11 degrees below zero when we left the house for a gymnastics meet this past Sunday morning. It had warmed only slightly by the time we arrived in Skowhegan, so it might've been five degrees below zero when these shots were taken. It would have been fun to explore more of the river under these conditions, but it was way too cold (and too early!) for my tastes!

Opportunity

From last week's UMaine vs. UMass-Lowell hockey game at the Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine. Unfortunately for UMaine, this puck found it's way into the net (via Mark Roebothan's stick - 4th of the season) within the next second or so.
